After completing the role of a Forward-thinking mentor last year, I have since been promoted to the role of an Experienced Mentor, where I will be supporting the new cohort of mentors and assisting new mentors in their role. This consists of monthly drop-in sessions with myself, alongside responding to any queries that new mentors have.

I completed a 1 month internship with PwC, developing my audit skills and knowledge. I was able to gain a vast amount of industry knowledge and I enjoyed learning about the company. I worked for clients and communicated with them during my time here.

As a forward-thinking mentor, I meet students in a local school to support them in higher education aspirations. It consists of one-to-one meetings with students where many topics are discussed, including University, revision tips and apprenticeships. The mentoring scheme is really beneficial both for the pupils and myself. I am able to communicate with the students and allow them to motivate themselves to be the best person they can be.

I am completing an internship with Merlin Entertainments in the finance department at Alton Towers. Within this role I am being introduced to various accounting techniques as well as assisting with period-end. I am also able to shadow fellow experienced colleagues to support my increasing knowledge of the industry and then take onboard various tasks dealt to myself.Such a role at a major company is able to support my University degree and my long-term career ambitions of working within the financial industry. Furthermore, by completing reporting and cash processing for a large company, this will be valuable knowledge that can be transferred to many other companies.

I work in the Guest Excellence Team at Alton Towers as we aim to provide high-quality assistance to thousands of customers that visit us each day. My role is to ensure that every visitor has a fantastic time at the Resort and I will deal with any complaints or queries both over the phone and online so that customer satisfaction is maintained. This is always a very busy environment and so being able to keep track of all responses and individual needs is extremely important. I get on well with staff and visitors due to my outgoing and friendly attitude and am very eager to develop within the role.

I work in the 1907 restaurant at Uttoxeter Racecourse which is an exclusive hospitality restaurant. My role is to take orders and look after specific tables to ensure that all of the customers’ needs are satisfied. This requires strong customer service skills and a responsibility of completing every task to the best of my ability in order to maintain customer satisfaction.
