Tom Berens is Senior Director, Team Lead in the Treasury & Debt Financing EMEA (TDF) team at CBRE Investment Management. In this role, Tom is responsible for defining and executing secured and unsecured (incl. public bonds) debt funding and hedging strategies for the EMEA Funds and Separate Accounts. The TDF team manages a EUR 11bn+ loan book with over 90 external debt facilities, in addition to a EUR 4bn derivative portfolio. The team manages relationships with over 75 financial institutions across Europe. Tom joined CBRE Investment Management in 2018. Prior to this, Tom worked at ING Real Estate Finance for 10 years, holding various portfolio management and origination and execution roles in Amsterdam, London and New York. He has broad international experience within the real estate finance and DCM spectrum from debt structuring and arranging, green or sustainability linked loans or bonds, hedging (interest and currency), risk management and bank relationship management. Tom joined the industry in 2008.Tom holds a Master Degree in European Real Estate from Kingston University, London and a Bachelor Degree in Management, Economics and Law from Fontys University, Eindhoven. Tom is part of the CBRE IM EMEA Risk Management Committee and is a member of the Board of Advisors at CREFC Europe.
