Recently assigned to manage Clearwater's largest facility with roughly 400 employees and a multi-million dollar budget.In 1986, Pierce in Lockeport, NS was acquired by Clearwater to handle and package Frozen-at-Sea (FAS) scallops and Nova Scotia Prime Lobster. As an innovation leader, Pierce transitioned scallop processing from traditional block freezing to an advanced individually quick freezing (IQF) method. In 2012, in an effort to meet the growing demand for convenient and healthy meal solutions among Clearwater’s foodservice and retail partners, Pierce underwent an expansion to include state-of-the-art processing capabilities for value-added products. Pierce is a British Retail Consortium (BRC) certified facility, a leading food safety and quality assurance program that ensures consistency and the highest standards.Today, Pierce has 400 employees processing approximately 13 million pounds of Canadian sea scallops, Argentine scallops and lobster annually.

Nova Scotia, Canada

Manage a multi-million dollar facility that supports Clearwater's global operations. Up to 4 million pounds of live lobster pass through the Arichat facility. Arichat is home to Clearwater’s patented Dryland Storage facility which allows us to hold and ship healthy, live lobster to customers year-round. The storage system mimics the lobster’s natural overwintering environment and maintains their health and superior quality. In addition to managing the operations, I work as a Project Manager on several ongoing initiatives within the plant and am responsible for ongoing change management initiatives. As Clearwater has a strong community presence, I am the first point of contact for the surrounding communities in any dealings with Clearwater Seafoods.

Brampton, On

As a senior manager with The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC) - the largest brand in the world- my business acumen skills are well honed. I was responsible for a dynamic team of 100 people involved in daily operations and increased productivity. Complimenting my strong people skills and operations management, my efforts as both a departmental and financial manager and project lead for new initiatives, including acting as a member of the Coca-Cola Steering Committee mapping the future of the company in Central Canada. I was also a team leader in a program to enhance the biggest labour productivity initiative at our largest site in Canada and 3rd largest in North America.I managed finances on a daily basis ($13m annual budget) including fixed and variable labour costs as well as OPEX or operating budgets and the departmental P&L. For example, I reduced departmental overtime costs by nearly 85% from prior year operations. On a daily basis, I reviewed departmental budgets to examine actuals versus planned to maximize efficiencies.

Government Of Canada Operations Centre

My duties included monitoring events around Canada and the world and preparing appropriate product for various Government Ministers and departments. The centre operates on a 24/7/365 basis. In addition to a monitoring function, my duties included activities coordination, product development and transmission to federal and provincial departmental and political leadership at the highest levels.

National Defence Headquarters - Strategic Joint Staff

I served as the Canada-US plans officer on the Strategic Joint Staff (SJS) at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa and reported to the Director Plans – Western Hemisphere. The SJS mission is to provide decision support and analysis to the Chief of the Defence Staff. Specific responsibilities included coordinating a review and update of two key bilateral plans, namely the Canada-US Combined Defence Plan and the Canada-US Civil Assistance Plan. I developed interagency briefings for senior level meetings. Without direction I supported the development of the CF Global Engagement Strategy and developed performance measurement criteria for this complex strategy. I worked as part of the CF cell that developed initial options for Canadian military actions in Libya. I was recognized in my annual performance assessment for my leadership, communications (oral and written) and teamwork skills.

Land Forces Central Area - Area Troops

Served as the Officer Commanding the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) organization within LFCA, (the army in Ontario) with 78 direct reports. CIMIC was a high-readiness organization and part of Area Troops which consisted of CIMIC, Psychological Operations and Intelligence. Reported to the Commanding Officer Area Troops and specific responsibilities included the planning and management of an annual budget of roughly $1 million. I recruited, trained, led and deployed operators in support of Canadian military activities around the world. I also supported the repatriation of fallen Canadian soldiers. Of the 158 soldiers killed in Afghanistan, I was personally involved with the repatriation of 41 and supervised the repatriation of 80 others. I led an organization that was geographically dispersed throughout Ontario. My organization had a 100% success rate in operational assignments and never went over budget. I was described in my performance assessment as “a thoughtful, highly intelligent and progressive officer who displayed an outstanding ability to adapt, act and react to changing situations while acting in diverse roles.” In addition I was recognized for my ability to plan, develop new training and doctrine methodologies, husband financial resources and remain on budget, and “operate in complex and diverse environments under stressful conditions and shortened timelines.”

Civil-Military Cooperation Officer - Task Force Afghanistan

While in Afghanistan, served as the Task Force CIMIC detachment commander and reported to the Task Force Commander or in his absence the Chief of Staff. My secondary duties included serving the principal liaison to the Government of Afghanistan, Task Force lead planner and advisor for crisis action response in Pakistan and Staff Officer to the Commander of the Task Force. I worked with NATO allies in developing coordinated, actionable objectives in support of the Government of Afghanistan and the overall NATO civil-military mission. It was noted in my performance assessment that I was an intelligent and mentally agile officer and was the “go-to” officer in the Task Force. It was also recommended that I be promoted ahead of my peers.

National Defence Headquarters

Served as the project manager for the implementation of new capabilities throughout the army reserve. I managed 4 projects concurrently and reported to the Director, Land Reserve Management (DLRM). I was responsible to establish targets for quality and productivity, incorporate organizational change when necessary, represent the Director at national-level working groups and conferences; and establish a pan-army communications program to raise and maintain awareness and information within the user communities. I was noted in my performance assessment for my positive impact on morale within the directorate, my strong sense of ethics and values and my willingness to take on additional work and responsibilities outside of my normal position requirements.
