Implementing ERP business systems (QAD)

Procured structural framing for underground coal mining equipment using SAP and Webview. Worked very closely with Supply Base to provide metal fabrications for production environment and Global Distribution Center. Responsible for annual spend volume of $21 million.I also worked for Joy Mining from 1981-1982

Materials Manager for metal weld and assembly operation supplying GM, Ford, Chrysler and Honda

Supervised ten employees (both salary and hourly) in Customer Support, Forecasting, Production Scheduling, Warehousing, Inventory Control, Shipping / Receiving and Supply Chain Management.Selected by Senior Management to identify and implement computerized ERP business system (MfgPro). Successfully implemented at five locations during six month development and launch which included training and go-live support.Negotiated annual $3 million freight program under budget with utilization of truck load, milk runs and less-than-truckload to support most economical transportation lanes throughout North America. Dealt with US Customs and NAFTA certifications on imports.Developed agenda and conducted day-long divisional meetings on a quarterly basis with representation from corporate office and four production facilities.Successfully used bar code scanning, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and ASN (Advance Shipping Notice) to improve the accuracy of shipping and receiving transactions.Reduced inventory costs by 20% and increased annual inventory turns from 25 to 30 by utilizing production scheduling, MRP and supply chain management tools.Utilized supplier kanban, escalation flags, supermarkets, waterspiders and level loading tools as part of Lean implementation program.Relocated to five production locations over 20 year period with perfect attendance.

Served on Church Board for eight years and as Treasurer secured funding and implemented budgeting process to support construction of new $2 million facility.

Fully accredited, four-year, liberal arts institution.; Taught evening courses in Purchasing and Operations Management. Successfully blended full time work experience with theoretical training to classrooms of 30 students.

Procured component inventories and scheduled production for finished goods. Planned inventory requirements to support plant relocation.
