I'm a scientist fascinated by everything to do with light!An average day in my professional life involves the development and application of lasers in weird and wonderful ways. I enjoy how varied my work can be - every day brings a new technical challenge to get stuck into.I'm a team lead of one of the Malvern Laser & Optical Physics teams at QinetiQ - do get in contact if you're interested in opportunities in some of the most exciting laser applications around!I've spent the last 9 years researching novel laser technologies and applications. I've worked on varied topics such as high energy short pulse and ultrafast lasers & applications, LiDAR & laser based sensing, beam combining, and high power fibre lasers. My headline niche skills are an expertise in higher order transverse laser modes, and large scale experiment design, construction, and facility integration.PhD and MPhys from the University of Southampton.
