Hi! I'm a video games consultant and occasional critic. After a long career in games journalism and a shorter one in publishing and creative services, I've worked for myself since the start of 2020, during which time I've consulted on over 150 games, ranging from indie titles to triple-A blockbusters. I love the work and am always looking for more of it!I'm best known for the 15 years I spent at Gamer Network, where I was Editor-in-Chief of Eurogamer.net, one of Europe's largest gaming websites. During that time I wrote over 800 reviews and a bazillion other things, all of which are still online thanks to the wonder (and horror) of the internet! If you're ever looking for a proper laugh, go find reviews I wrote in 1999 when I was barely out of school...More recently, I was UK Editor-in-Chief (ridiculous, nonsensical job title) at Riot Games, based in London, where I worked with publishing and esports teams, mostly on League of Legends and LoL esports, but also a little on Legends of Runeterra and Teamfight Tactics, which was The True Game 2 in my eyes. That was actually my second stint at Riot. I massively enjoyed my earlier work at the Brighton Creative Services office as Head of Writing (what is it with Riot and these job titles) in 2015-2016 before they did one of their big strategic adjustments and decided we should all go live in Dublin instead (I declined). What else? I also spent a happy 18 months as VP of Audience Development at Greenlit Content (now part of ReKTGlobal), where I had a lot of fun learning how to operate in a fast-moving creative services environment. Oh, and I also seem to write most of the FIFA Ultimate Team guides on the internet these days, because it's just so damn moreish!
