My primary focuses are mechanical engineering, project management, and automated instrument/equipment system design. I have designed a line of pumps, various electronic enclosures, optical assemblies, high temperature bio-reactors, ovens, an organ transplant device, and automated welders, among many other projects. These design efforts have required PLC programming, the creation of custom software design and data tools, as well as the use of various FEA and simulation packages. My project management skills are similarly diverse with projects ranging from medical research instrument development to a biomass reactor installation at a university facility. I have led project teams of 20 professionals, and have managed a department of mechanical engineers. I also have a strong interest in quality systems and continuous improvement, and have helped write an ISO9001 quality manual. I am experienced in developing database systems for engineering and manufacturing activities, successfully deploying four such systems. I have written a tutorial guidebook for SolidWorks, and taught a SolidWorks class for 6 years. I enjoy laughing, running, sailing, boat design/building, and hosting movie nights.
