My role was largely designed to bring consistent policies & practices to a very diverse set of business units. We set up project controls & enterprise wide training while supporting the upgrade of the ERP from an operational perspective to build a strong foundation for growth and prosperity toward the future. Building stronger accountability and responsibility into a rich tradition and history of strong builders was exciting and challenging. Solving problems, avoiding disputes and partnering with clients to meet their needs in an industry of great people was extremely rewarding.

As a corporate officer (NEO), Senior Vice President of Operations Services in Granite’s corporate headquarters in Watsonville, California, I was responsible for oversight & coordination of key functional support services for operations throughout the country. Key responsibilities included strategic planning, M&A integration, business development, continuous improvement initiatives, plants & material management, central purchasing, equipment fleet management, quality control, engineering services, project controls, review and implementation of information technology programs for operations.

Intermountain And Pacific Northwest

Vice President and Operating Group Manager in 2007, I assumed leadership responsibilities for four regional branch offices in Southern California, Arizona and Utah. In 2009, was assigned additional responsibility and oversight for Granite's larger Northwest Operating Group which included six regional offices and operations in Alaska, Washington, Nevada and Utah. In addition, I was responsible to lead the integration new acquisitions including the expansion of a large projects business into the operating group successfully pursuing and delivering on design build and CMGC projects throughout the Intermountain and Pacific Northwest regions.

Promoted to Regional Branch Manager in 2001 where I led the Utah team through 2007. We had a dynamic and successful Utah team through the infrastructure build out for the 2002 Winter Olympics and subsequent strategic deployment of alternative delivery contracts in transportation throughout Utah. We collaboratively led the diversification into industrial sectors such as mining, oil & gas and rail. I had overall profit and loss responsibilities for one of the largest and most successful operations in the company. Additionally I served on the Salt Lake Chamber Board, was Chairman of the AGC Board of Utah while serving on non-profit boards in the community.
