Tom is an experienced engineering geologist with a combination of specialist skills in the identification of geohazards, ground investigation and geological modelling, supporting risk management in design and delivery of major infrastructure projects. He is a Chartered Geologist and Fellow of the Geological Society of London with over 20 years of experience providing specialist engineering geology and geohazard expertise on infrastructure projects globally. Tom has a developing interest in data driven approaches and data visualisation to advance increased domain-knowledge, technical excellence and capability, supporting clients and colleagues explore challenges/opportunities and how to derive repeatable value from Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.Tom has a keen interest in promoting increased awareness of the role and value of geosciences within multidisciplinary projects and the wider community. He has proven ability in communication of geohazards and associated ground risks, to project teams, clients and stakeholders.He has specialist expertise in successfully leading large ground investigations in both onshore and offshore environments in a range of complex ground conditions. Tom has worked extensively throughout the UK and Ireland and has also worked in Europe, North and East Africa, the Middle East and Australia. Tom has specialist arid region geotechnical experience.Tom has proven experience of leading teams in field investigations on major infrastructure projects and has undertaken geomorphological and geological mapping, including slope hazard assessments and risk analyses, in steep mountainous terrain in Northern Europe, the Middle East and recently in Australasia. Tom is a fully accredited Slope Risk Assessor in NWS RMS Guide to Slope Risk Analysis Version 4.
