Strategic advisor to UK ministers on international nature, climate and development policy and ODA programming. Led the design and delivery of the World Leaders Summit Forests and Land Use Event and announcements at COP26, where 145 world leaders, responsible for 91% of the global forest estate, committed to halt and reverse forest loss and land degradation by 2030, supported by nearly $20 billion from public donors, private sector and philanthropy, along with a focus on three systemic shifts needed to realise this goal: to the finance sector, to the trade sector, and the advancement of the land rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

WCS’s senior programmatic representative in the UK and Europe. Supported governments to design new international conservation and climate change programs; member of the UK Darwin Initiative Expert Committee. Seconded to the European Commission to lead the design the EU’s strategic approach to conservation in Asia (Larger than Tigers). Visiting Researcher at the University of Oxford.

Managed and provided strategic direction for WCS’s Southeast Asia Archipelago program, covering Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Southeast Asia Marine programs, with a budget of $7-9 million/year and 350 staff. Designed new programs and policy initiatives to support the new program strategy totalling $40 million funded by major bilateral and multilateral donors and foundations.

Managed the Cambodia Country Program for WCS with an annual budget of $2.5 million/year and 220 staff. Developed a new Southeast Asia regional policy program on addressing drivers of deforestation.

Developed Payments for Environmental Services (PES) programs, including ecotourism, certified agricultural and forestry products and reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD) in Southeast Asia. Lead advisor to the Royal Government of Cambodia on REDD+, including facilitating the design of the Cambodia National REDD+ Readiness Plan for the World Bank FCPF and UN-REDD.

Designed and managed a 7-year $4.6 million UNDP-GEF project aiming to support government agencies to establish effective models of conservation across the Northern Plains landscape of Cambodia; this project was independently assessed to be “Highly Successful”.
