About Tom Colling

Highly driven biomedical engineer with experience in research and development seeking to utilize my technical knowledge to help design, innovate, and test products in the biotechnology industry. I am a strong proponent of lifelong learning and have found that curiosity is my greatest asset. I am continuously striving to increase my depth of technical knowledge to make valuable contributions to team and organizational goals.I graduated summa cum laude from Kansas State University with B.S. in biomedical engineering with an emphasis on sensors and devices and minors in biology and mathematics. After graduation, I worked in Boston with researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School studying the long-term effects of cryopreservation of red blood cells. I also developed software tools to aid in cell biology research.I moved to DEKA Research and Development as a Verification and Validation Test Engineer working on the HemoCare Hemodialysis System. I wrote and revised test procedures to verify system requirements and led efforts for a cleaning validation study that adhered to ANSI/AAMI ST98 standards.I currently work as a Failure Analysis Engineer, working primarily with the Remunity drug-infusion pump. I investigate devices returned from the field to determine root-cause failures, working with a multidisciplinary team to provide informative and conclusive reports of our findings that drive product improvement.
