I have taught and worked with guitars since I turned 18. Living within the city centre has allowed me to gain experience teaching not only students with lower, average and above average skill, but also students with physical and mental disability, including partial blindness and autism. I have given lessons to pupils from ages 5 through to 70, In both individual and group situations, and put a number of students through exams, with Rockschool, RGT & ABRSM exam boards. As a full time tutor I fully appreciate that students and there goals differ vastly, which is why I decide to take a pragmatic view towards my lessons. Teachers who follow 'the book' are ubiquitous, and although I appreciate the ease of following the same path for everybody, I believe a personalised approach to be much more efficient & much more enjoyable.Aside from teaching and lessons my musical experience stretches to composition and live work, where I have performed in several function bands and theatre shows for both enjoyment and income. I gig regularly, as a keyboard player and guitarist in covers band Devoted to Rock. I also enjoyed some local success with an original band, which allowed me to play some amazing gigs, including the Wulfrun Hall, The 02 Academy and numerous other venues throughout the country.During these experiences I have picked up a sizeable knowledge regarding all aspects of the instrument, from going into solos blind all the way to scalloping fretboards.
