Served as GSK’s primary spokesperson to the North American investment community, where during my tenure, ownership of GSK increased from ~13% to ~40% (1% = ~$1bn). Counseled C-Suite executives regarding disclosure matters (including major positive news and crisis management issues) and shareholder perspectives; received exceptional feedback and endorsements from GSK’s top management including from current and former CEOs. --- Examples of the crisis management type issues addressed over many years: lowering earnings guidance, product withdraws, Phase III failures of key pipeline assets, patent issues, government investigations, FDA matters, legal issues, competitor developments. Served for over 10 years on GSK’s Disclosure Committee, responsible for evaluating disclosure of all potentially material matters as well as reviewing and approving all stock exchange announcements.. Actively participated in the development and review of all of GSK’s key external communications from YE 2000 through May 2018. - Made significant contributions in preparation of every quarterly earnings release and annual report and all major press releases issued by GSK (YE 2000 through May 2018). - Prepared CFO’s scripts for quarterly earnings calls and other key events (e.g., investor conferences and deal announcements).- Developed presentations for executive management to present to investors and analysts. - Ensured CEO, CFO and other top executives were appropriately briefed ahead of investor meetings. Over almost 20 years in Investor Relations and thousands of meetings, built trusting relationships and strong credibility with portfolio managers and the pharma specialists at an extensive number of investment firms and with “sell-side” analysts that follow the pharmaceuticals sector.

Provided finance leadership for a cross-functional team of more than 100 professionals that developed strategies and detailed business case implementation plans for the Company’s supply chains. These restructuring plans delivered more than $1 billion of value primarily through consolidation and elimination of excess capacity (which also reduced capital spending requirements); improved integration of manufacturing and tax strategies; and, leveraging of the worldwide purchasing function. At completion of planning phase, received an outstanding performance award from COO. Developed, implemented and managed WSO’s capital management process and principles that over two years contributed to a 30% net reduction from previously approved budgets. Reviewed and approved all capital investments related to manufacturing in excess of $150,000. Participated in the implementation of EVA (Economic Value Added) quarterly reporting and analysis for the Company’s executive management group. Made numerous presentations on EVA principles, including a presentation at WSO’s global conference of more than 150 leaders.

Facilitated the preparation, analysis and reporting of worldwide budgets and results. Ensured all major issues and opportunities were promptly addressed.

Provided finance leadership to cross-functional team of top performers based on my “aggressiveness and proven ability to get things done.” Participated in the preparation of the business plan for the major launch of a new product line extension. Developed spreadsheet model to calculate financial returns and perform sensitivity analyses integrating data and forecasts from market research, manufacturing, pulp operations, logistics, capital and facilities planning.

Working with Scott Paper’s CFO (Basil Andersen, who subsequently became CFO of Campbell Soup Company), led the implementation of a new key financial measure, EVA, to improve capital management and the understanding of how all activities correlate to shareholder value. Formulated, documented and communicated the Company’s policies for calculating EVA, and participated in the development of an EVA based variable pay plan.Developed a Business Improvement Program Report focusing the Company's Executive Committee on significant unfavorable trends in controllable costs (e.g., contributions, travel, consultant fees, expatriate expenses, legal fees and information systems costs). In 1994, this report was expanded and applied on a worldwide basis, as reducing all “controllable expenses” became a part of the Company’s turn around.

Issued external financial statements and reports including: annual and quarterly shareholder reports, financial press releases, and SEC filings (e.g., Forms 10-K and 10-Q). Issued consolidated internal financial statements and reports for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.Managed group of accountants responsible for consolidating financial statements and corporate accounts. Managed and supervised numerous audit engagements and special projects for a diverse client base which included Du Pont and Crown Cork & Seal. Performed due diligence in connection with acquisitions.
