Due to the fact that the GM or acting GM will regularly be faced with situations in which quick decisions need to be made, there is a high level of responsibility within the job function. The interns’ primary function will be assisting the GM, given that he is multi-skilled and will be trained in all areas of the hotel, as he will be required to show leadership in all functions of the business at any given time.Examples of Main Operational Duties are:- To recruit and interview applicants for vacancies at POD.- To ensure that service and presentation is according to POD standards and exceed the guests’ needs and wants.- To develop and implement new training programs in collaboration with the GM.- Continuous on-site training, monitoring and improvement of the five star service standards.- To conduct performance interviews and salary reviews of staff.Examples of Strategic Responsibilities:- Implementation and management of annual operating budgets and expenditures in all areas of the business - excluding Sales and Marketing.- To meet all budget requirements as set by owners and to drive financial targets.- Prepare for- and attend - monthly Management meetings with the business owners – to discuss issues, stock control, figures, capital expenditure requirements, staff related issues and provide overall feedback.- To participate in the determination of the POD Strategic Plan and form implementation plans based on the outcome of the Strategic Plan.
