Tom Devlin Email and Phone Number
Tom specializes in new product and business development for emerging consumer, medical, and high-tech companies.Tom holds a mechanical engineering degree from MIT and a Master’s in Design from the Royal College of Art. He created Devlin Design in 1994 after three years of experience at Product Genesis, a product development consultancy in Boston. For over thirty years, Tom has helped dozens of clients create, design, and manufacture new and exciting award winning products. As an entrepreneur he was a founding shareholder in ClassCo a 1994 company that licensed talking Caller ID technology. In 1995, he and two partners created New Vector Products to bring early-stage entrepreneurial ideas to a state of commercial readiness. From this effort, a company named BruxCare was formed in 1996 to manufacture and market the GrindAlert headband, a solution for nocturnal bruxism. In his next venture, Loto Lighting, he developed motorized light fixtures for retail, gallery, and hospitality that are controlled by a simple and intuitive transmitter. Tom’s creativity as well as his understanding of business make him highly regarded by his corporate clients. His consultancy has given him the flexibility and financial footing to constantly develop and sell new ideas. From three words: "cartridge-based kitty litter," Tom invented ScoopFree for the startup Lucky Litter, which was later acquired by PetSafe. He repeated the success with Brilliant Pad, a product that appeared on Shark Tank. For Cambridge based Sensory Cloud, Tom developed Cyrano, a scent player, and nimbus, a mist maker used for olfactory experiences. Both were featured in the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York.Specialties: New product development, business development, project planning and costing, idea brainstorming, visualization, 3D CAD, patents, documentation and sourcing for manufacturing.
