Gallery Manager

Current
Ibid. Gallery

Whilst working in a small team, I have been responsible for a large number of duties and tasks during my time there, which I have developed and expanded on in my working life. My main responsibilities involve; maintenance of the daily running of the gallery, management of a selection of freelancing technicians, photographers and interns, logistical planning and execution for both London and Los Angeles based galleries and administrative tasks that include but are not limited to: invoicing, inventorising of work, image archiving and editing.I also act as an artist liaison, speaking to the artists in person and via email regarding their needs and requirements for upcoming shows, through arrangement of production, completion of work, research and preparation of work for shipment. Due to the small team, I have taken on tasks since working at the gallery, including applications to many international art fairs, designing online and printed advertising for the gallery and assisting the director in curating the shows.I have frequent and relevant experience in working towards a deadline, often going outside of normal working hours to achieve completion of tasks to a high standard which I set myself. I often see my work as a reflection of my self and take pride in representing the gallery in this way.As well as working within the gallery I also have a breadth of experience working outside of the gallery setting in pop up shows and fairs, providing more organisational support to the team and corresponding artist(s). Examples of this have been a external exhibition at the Milbank Tower in 2014 and Frieze Art Fair London, 2015 and FIAC Art Fair, Paris also in 2015.

Dec 2013 - Present

Front Of House Staff

I was an intern with Saatchi Gallery for four months starting in August. I was going to continue as part time paid staff member before the full time position arose at Ibid. After moving back to London after studying Fine Art at the University of Reading, this internship allowed me to see the inner workings of a larger institution, something that was missing from my knowledge. In between the sometimes mundane invidulating, being behind the scenes on a number of private openings, installations and general day to day management allowed me to take a fresh perspective on the way in which art shows are put together for a larger audience. As part of the internship we were allowed to research and present a public talk concerning the current show which I on several occasions provided to a crowd of viewers.

Sep 2013 - Nov 2013

Customer Service Agent

Although not directly related to the career path I intended, I still see my time at Steljes as a profitable one in terms of my on development. My first job after university presented me with a whole new challenge, the office setting familiarized me with the importance of organisation. Many of the techniques for multiple task management I still use to this day. I also became acquainted with Microsoft Suite and advanced my knowledge of PC to equal that of my knowledge of Mac. Performing a few roles in my position, I duty mainly consisted of customer interaction aiming to solve any technical or practical issue that had arisen with their product. Being able to problem solve quickly, with other members of my team and other department ts,in a professional manner is something that I believe to be integral to almost every working day since.

Curatorial & Management Intern

The Long White Cloud Gallery

This was a internship that involved assistance to the IN HOUSE collective that were the resident artistic group that governed the exhibition space which doubled as cafe that specialised in a New Zealand style food and beverages. My role was extensive and varied consisting of: technical support and set up for exhibitions, documentation of said exhibition, front of house meet and greeting, marketing and advertising of exhibition in the area. curatorial involvement in future exhibitions. The most applicable experience would be the establishing of social media for the exhibition space predominantly through Facebook and Tumblr, using my skills developed during my degree regarding website design and creation, i was able to use these skills to allow our social media to not only reflect our future intent within the gallery's future but also inflect a level of professionalism on those that visited those pages in order to search for the gallery through these websites. Unfortunately the collective went on a temporary hiatus as some members returned to the native home of New Zealand, it then became not viable to continue working there whilst in full time work
