Responsible for the tasking of resources to all 999 calls within a defined area that have been triaged and are deemed requiring a form of response.• Managing multiple 999 cases and ambulance resources, ensuring that all service policy and procedure, such as meal break policies, are adhered to.• Successfully managing the area support officers, ensuring these are sent to any critical incidents, motorway jobs for crew safety, and jobs with multiple on-scene resources, including hanging and chemical suicides, with police involvement, to ensure effective management and multi-agency cooperation.• Overseeing the management of specialist resources, such as medics and the MERIT (major medical trauma) and HART (hazardous area response) teams, sent to various jobs including working at height patient rescues and major incidents, such as rail and aircraft crashes and potential terror incidents.• Managing many high profile incidents as part of incident command, such as aircraft emergencies at Birmingham airport, large industrial fires, chemical incidents, and explosions etc. • Assisting in coaching and monitoring new trainee EMDs while they learn to take 999 calls, operate the radio and occupy the dispatch position.• Training in JESIP principals, including attending official training for control room staff.• Establishing the production of accurate incident records, including a running/decision log if and when required.

To efficiently prioritise emergency, urgent and routine calls using a computer aided triage and dispatch system within the Trust's criteria based dispatching procedures to facilitate the appropriate and timely dispatch of resources. Provide all callers with appropriate pre-arrival instructions including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, choking procedures, childbirth procedures and the treatment of unconscious patients.
