Manage day to day activities at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Southern Afghanistan.Responsible for Safe operations of the Aerostat and a crew of 7 or 8 personnel. Act as liaison between PGSS hub at Camp Bastion and the command at the FOB.Coordinate logistical movements to and from the hub and our FOB as well as the PGSS sites located at smaller bases that are supported from our FOB. Conduct C4ISR operations, currently embedded with a Marine Unit.Provide video feed and communicate with Base Command. Work directly with base command and troops to provide specific surveillance needs.Launch, recover and perform necessary operations to ensure successful flight of a 22M T-COM Aerostat.Monitor Software systems used for tracking Aerostat health, recorded video, camera operations and other pertinent data.Use software programs such as Google Earth, Terrasight and PSS SOF to determine grids.Perform free lift and helium calculations to allow for maximum performance of Aerostat.Perform maintenance on systems and equipment, including Aerostat, Mooring Platform, ECU’s, Generators and other equipment as required.
