    The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company Jun 1972 - Aug 1981
    Towson, Md, Us
I started with Whiting-Turner In June 1971 as an Assistant Project Manager, working part-time and going to school full-time. I was first tasked with doing take-offs for the I-95 Bridge projects. I then went full time with the company when I graduated from University of Delaware in May 1974. In 1974, when I joined full time, I was appointed to the position of Project Engineer where I continued the I-95 projects. The I-95 projects kept me busy until 1978 with a combined cost of $40,000,000.I took over the Project Manager Role when we were granted The Best Products Store in Towson, Maryland. This project was unique because we used a Tilt wall at the front exterior, and this job was completed before the end of 1978.In the end of 1978 we were granted the J.C. Penny and attached multi-story parking garage in Fairfax, Virginia. I started this construction project as the Project Manager in the beginning of 1979 and continued until 1980. this was a multi-story pre-stressed concrete with a steel frame. In 1980 I started the J.C. Penny in Samford, Connecticut as the Project Manager. This was also another 2 Story retail building with steel frame. we completed this project in 1981.In 1981 I moved promptly to begin construction on a two story retail expansion of the Columbia Mall in Columbia, Maryland. This also was steel framing and concrete. In 1981, I left Whiting-Turner Contracting to pursue my goals of owning my own construction company.
