As of 01/08/2024, I am retired. I saw many changes to the industry over the years, and sadly lived throught the dot.com crash and subsequent industry decline afterwards in the early 2000's, but I was fortunate to be a part of the Golden Age of IT. My early years (mid 1984--2000) were my fondest, working on large systems with huge codebases that still sometimes dwarf what we see today. It was a time of close-knit teams with some of the smartest developers I've ever worked with, and companies that valued their employees. It was a fun time to be a programmer. For the most part, I did not fully appreciate how good those early years were until after they were gone.I want to offer my thanks to all who supported and worked with me. There are many I could mention from the early years but In particular I want to thank, Mike S (Ameritech); Tom G (ASA, Unocal, ProAlliance); Mike S, "Fat Tony", and Jim C (all ProAlliance). In addition, to the people--too many to list here--who I collaborated with, spent late evenings and early mornings with, and who supported me; I offer a heartful "thank you", my career would not have been as enjoyable without you. Farewell. Now, where is that system dump I printed out?--I have a S0C4 to track down....
