Billesley is a primary school in an ethnically diverse area of Birmingham that quickly brought itself out of special measures. Bacchus Bar is a Mitchell and Butlers-owned Nicholson’s pub in the centre of Birmingham. My role here was as front of house staff, mostly working at the bar, serving drinks, taking food orders and operating the tills. Occasionally I also worked on the floor and in the restaurant, where I had to ensure the bar is clean and the customers at their tables are being looked after. I also had to ensure the bar is closed down properly at the end of the shift.

Swordfish Records is an independent record store in the centre of Birmingham. This started as casual retail work, but I later convinced the owners of the business to make use of ICT and the internet. I became prominently involved in setting up and assisting with methods for Swordfish to sell their stock online through websites such as eBay and Discogs, and I helped to promote the business through social networking (Facebook/Twitter) and mailing lists.
