As Research & Knowledge Exchange Development Manager at the Royal College of Art, I work with academics from the Schools of Architecture, Arts & Humanities and Communication as well as from the Computer Science Research Centre and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design. I work with colleagues to develop research and knowledge exchange proposals, partnerships and lead on contract negotiations with our external funding agencies, industry partners and charitable organisations.

I am currently responsible for managing the British Academy's Newton Fund programmes which include Newton Mobility Grants, Newton International Fellowships and Newton Advanced Fellowships. I am also responsible for the International Partnerships and Mobility programme. These programmes are delivered in conjunction with our partners in Newton Fund countries such as Brazil, China, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. This position is based within the British Academy's Research Funding Team and includes the line management of the Research Funding Officer post.Please see below for a summary of my key responsibilities:• Management of four of the British Academy’s International facing research programmes; Newton Mobility Grants, Newton Advanced Fellowships, Newton International Fellowships and International Partnership and Mobility programmes worth over £5 million per year• Co-ordination of various programme operations and risk management associated with these schemes • Stakeholder engagement at UK Government, international partnership and British Embassy level for the various Newton Fund countries in which the British Academy operates• Key role in scheme promotion to international academics as well as UK academic collaborators• Management of complex data management reporting both internally and externally to Government and other key external stakeholders• Line management of one member of staff who supports administrative functions of the various programmes• Stakeholder engagement with British Academy’s Fellows in order to enable the application peer-review and programme

While working at the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), I was responsible for one of the Academy's flagship research schemes, the Research Chairs and Senior Research Fellowships programme. This programme supported some of the best engineers in the country to make a step change in their field of research and to help establish internationally renowned centres of excellence. The scheme also aimed to strengthen the links between industry and academia by supporting exceptional academics in UK universities to undertake use-inspired research that meets the needs of the industrial partners.Please see below for my key responsibilities at RAEng:• Programme Management of Research Chairs / Senior Research Fellowships scheme which is one of the Royal Academy of Engineering’s flagship research initiatives with a budget of in excess of £2 million per year• Co-ordination of a programme with over 45 awardees from across the Engineering sector from a variety of the UK’s top Universities• Allocation of payments to awardees via the Grants Management System (GMS) as well as a key role in forecasting, profiling and monitoring the programme’s budget• Promotion of the scheme and dissemination of key benefits and results of the initiative to both internal and external stakeholders • In conjunction with my Team Manager, I have developed key systems, policies and processes to help support the programme’s overall delivery objectives• Support for prospective applications and facilitation of partnership development between key industry partners and academic research groups• Management of key relationships with a range of external organisations such as Airbus and Rolls-Royce• Analysis and production of a range of statistical programme data for reports to the Government Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) • Organisation and delivery of the Research Forum 2016, which is the Academy’s premier event for showcasing its world-class research.

In April 2014 I was employed by King’s College London to be the Strategic Projects Officer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). Current responsibilities include:• Responsible for the management and co-ordination of the most senior committees at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN)• Work across Faculty to embed and evaluate key performance programmes which include the Performance Development Review (PDR) process, Divisional Review process and High Performance Culture initiative• In conjunction with the IoPPN Press Office responsible for dissemination of important cross-Faculty communications including policy change and key Institutional messages• Development and analysis of a number of internal systems linked to performance metrics and the review of key business objectives• Co-ordination and management of external stakeholder visits to the Institute including from overseas Universities and large scale Pharmaceutical companies• Involved in research linked to the building of the strategic case and business plans for change projects • Management and co-ordination of internal networking events to support cross-faculty cooperation and to promote research and teaching excellence• Key role in liaising with other project managers for change initiatives in order to ensure that these projects feed into overall business objectives e.g. Athena SWAN project• Responsible for the research and draft discussion documents, presentations and management reports directly for the Dean and Director of Administration

I started working for the University of East London (UEL) in January 2008 and this was my first major job after I graduated from University in the Summer of 2017. While working there I was involved in a wide variety of funded initiatives including research grants, knowledge transfer projects, economic regeneration initiatives and consultancy projects. The University had a large and diverse portfolio of projects in which I was instrumental in managing risk and ensuring that contractual obligations, with the various funding bodies in which UEL engaged, had been met.I was involved in safeguarding in excess of £10 million of University's externally funded grants as well as contributing towards the grant application process through interaction with the pre-award funding team.I developed an extensive range of attributes while working in this area which included excellent communication skills, understand and identify key risks within large scale collaborative projects and the ability to devise creative solutions to delivery issues. I gained an extensive understanding of contract management and safeguarding key strategic interests within partnerships such as Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). While working at UEL, I demonstrated a proven track record for meeting multiple project deadlines and managing an extensive workload. I developed strong analytical skills and was responsible for managing complex budget reports for large scale funded projects as well as being responsible for presenting and disseminating project information to internal and external stakeholders.I was heavily involved in establishing internal systems and reporting procedures for a number of multimillion pound FP7 research projects as well as having a key role in supporting the delivery of UEL's flag ship £1.5 million ERDF project Make It Global which aimed to support female led SME's to realise ambitions to internationalise their business.
