Family BusinessMy responsibilities included: - Carrying out tree and hedge planting for agricultural/environmental schemes (REPs, AEOS, GLAS) - We grow our own whitethorn and beech plants from seed and supply a full range of all native Irish trees. - We also carry out services such as planting, installing bird boxes, laying hedges, coppicing etc. - During the summer months we carry out all aspects of garden landscaping and maintenance (mowing lawns, trimming hedges, fertiliser and herbicide application, planting trees and shrubs, fencing etc).

- Guidance and completion of Agri-Environmental plans in compliance with the GLAS, Derogation, Knowledge Transfer (KT Groups) and Basic Payment Scheme- Preparation of Nutrient Management Plans for GLAS (including soil analysis and fertilizer advice)- Meeting with clients on farm and in the office - Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients - To meet strict deadlines and deliver work to the highest professional standard- To work as part of a team and work on own initiative- To be familiar with a variety of farm production systems - Extensive upto date training on the new Teagasc NMP Online system

My responsibilities included: - Operating a combine and chaser bin in Australia for the harvest in 2015 - Working for various large scale farmers in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. - My job was to service and carry out maintenance on my machine each morning before operating. - Work consisted of driving a combine or chaser bin for a 16 hour shift each day. Drivers would rotate each week. Skill gained: - I gained excellent communication skills as I worked with a large skilled team of machinery operators and farmers from different nationalities. - I gained excellent machinery operating skills and experience. - I worked with a large skilled team of operators for each job which greatly increased my team working skills.

My role mainly consists of: - Turf maintenance and repair - Soil testing - Turf manicuring - Turf irrigation - Daily rainfall measurements - Assisting in the organising of major events such as the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby - Interacting with the public on race days (Turnstiles, Information desk, Security, Weigh-in room)

My responsibilities were: - Assisted Kevin Murphy (Crop Research Technician) in gathering information and carrying out the analysis of trial crops (wheat, oats, barley, oil-seed rape, field peas) both in the field and in the lab. - I also was involved in the analysis of trials carried out by Dermot Forristal (Principal Research Officer). Skill gained: - I gained valuable experience working alongside experienced crop technicians and researchers during my time at Teagasc Research Centre Carlow. - I gained excellent communication and team working skills as I was involved with a large group of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
