Implementation and assurance of the risk and compliance practices of the Capricorn Group, covering services as varied as trade credit, business lending, risk protection, insurance and travel for an organisation with over 25,000 members and turnover of over $3 billion.Identification and maintenance of Capricorn’s compliance obligations and associated controls, covering Australian Financial Services Licensee and Credit Licensee obligations, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Act, Privacy Act, and Corporations Act. Fulfilled the roles of Privacy Officer and AML/CTF Officer, developing and implementing effective programs and controls to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Delivered strategic direction and specialist operational and compliance risk advice to the Retail Banking division, inclusive of driving risk accountability by the Retail Banking leadership team, raising risk capability and culture across over 2000 staff, and supporting successful execution of all elements of the operational and compliance risk management frameworks.

Definition and successful delivery of operational risk strategy for Business & Corporate Banking division, leading to improved risk culture and reduced operational losses for a division providing finance for corporate, commercial, small business, and private sectors.

Operational risk challenge and support to various departments, including Operations, IT, Strategy & Support and Business Banking.

Delivery of a £2m global procurement transformation programme involving the successful novation of over 2000 supplier contracts from an RBS subsidiary (RBS NV) to RBS plc. in 25 countries.

Quality assurance of third-party suppliers, undertaking a cycle of planned, prioritised risk reviews determining compliance to agreed contract, whilst assessing maturity of risk management practices across information security, business continuity and operational risk. Provision of accurate and timely review reports, developing open and constructive relationships with stakeholders to agree and manage action plans to improve compliance levels and mitigate supply chain risk.

Definition and delivery of a strategy for the identification and challenge of operational risks across the RBS Strategic Review programme; ensuring a robust divisional operational risk profile for a major change programme with a £2 billion budget. Subsequent implementation of a Risk Steering Committee to facilitate discussion on key operational themes before escalation to executive level.
