Principal Software Engineer
Current
Senior Software Engineer
CurrentAs a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, I played a crucial role in modernizing and optimizing key components of the M365 ecosystem. My contributions include being a key contributor the development of the M365 Core Store Objects service, which allowed access to our Exchange Store Objects (XSO) library via gRPC. Exposing this crucial library as a web API has allowed key services and workflows, such as POP, calendaring, and tasks, to move out of our legacy, monolithic codebase into microservices, which are able to deploy worldwide in one week's time rather than the six weeks it takes our code in the monolith to deploy.A key partner of the Core Store Objects service is the Microsoft 365 Search Service, which powers all search across the suite of Microsoft 365 products, including CoPilot. I was the tech lead for the project of migrating M365 from our legacy REST/JSON-based mailbox query service to CSO, responsible for scheduling, delegating, and oftentimes implementing the work for the migration effort. The migration resulted in a 8% decrease in query latency and a 10% decrease in request volume for our legacy REST service.I also spearheaded performance enhancements for the Substrate Data Storage service, achieving a 95% reduction in storage I/O, directly impacting system efficiency and partner experience. Additionally, I was instrumental in developing the Schematized Substrate Data Store, a piece of the Graph Search Connectors microservice ecosystem. GCS is a key feature showcased during Satya Nadella’s keynote at MSFT Ignite 2019.Beyond technical contributions, I enhanced team productivity by authoring clear, comprehensive technical documentation and mentoring junior developers, ensuring seamless project handovers and fostering growth within the team.
Software Engineer Ii
As a Software Engineer II at Microsoft, I was pivotal in enhancing and expanding the capabilities of key productivity tools. I led the development of the Outlook Tasks REST API, which enabled customers to programmatically access their Outlook Tasks data through a REST-ful JSON-based service, allowing them to move off the legacy, SOAP-based EWS protocol. This API is now exposed on the Microsoft Graph as the To-Do tasks APII also contributed to the evolution of the MSFT To-Do platform, where I implemented crucial features like task list sharing. These enhancements were instrumental in the seamless migration from Wunderlist to MSFT To-Do, providing users with a more robust and agile task management experience. I helped migrate the Outlook Tasks REST API from our legacy monolithic codebase to our new microservice platfrom, reducing deployment time from 6 weeks to 1 week.In addition to my technical responsibilities, I ensured the success of these projects by creating detailed, accessible documentation and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, which streamlined development processes and supported seamless integration across the platform.
Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer at Microsoft, I played a key role in building and maintaining critical backend systems that supported the company’s productivity tools. My work primarily focused on ensuring high availability and performance of the session border controller (SBC) datacenter components, which facilitated seamless interaction between on-premise devices and our servers.I was also responsible for enhancing the automated monitoring pipeline and tools, which improved system reliability and provided better optics for feature usage and availability. These enhancements allowed for more proactive monitoring and quicker resolution of potential issues, directly contributing to improved service stability. My role required close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that met the needs of both internal and external users. Additionally, I authored detailed documentation to ensure that these solutions were easily maintainable and extensible by other developers.
