Technical Project Manager
It Project Manager
I joined the Marine Scotland team to facilitate the cloning and onboarding of a technical system that was developed by another governmental department. I assisted in the drafting of a timeline and scope needed for this work to be completed, however, due to timeline and budget constraints a decision was made to upgrade the existing system and provide amendments and enhancements to maintain and improve functionality. I retrieved and analysed requirements from the business and our stakeholders, and stood up third party contracts to undergo the required work using a small supplier selection process. Following the delivery of the initial scope I was retained by Marine Scotland to manage the implementation of a new end to end service, including a Grant Management IT platform itself. The project was initiated and delivered in an agile manner, split into three phases, Discovery, Alpha & Beta. I was responsible for managing the collective timescales collaboratively with the third party PM, work activities, timelines and relationships with the business to ensure continuous alignment to agreed scope. The project had to align with the Digital Scotland Service Standard and had a service assessment at the end of each of the 4 phases laid out by an independent assurance board. It was my responsibility to record and analyse the criteria needed to pass the assessment and to create or delegate where appropriate the completion of each task. During my time with Marine Scotland, I was responsible for:• Managing the business case • Monitoring progress and track roadblocks• Preparing board papers and minutes & chair governance meetings • Managing project budget• Risk identification and management• Managing the project scope • Audit Deliverable management• Managing constraints, dependencies • Managing UAT and other testing Cycles• Stakeholder & Supplier management• Creating roadmap strategies for BAU implementation• Consultation on best working practices for BAU
Delivery Driver
I joined Waitrose as a Part Time Delivery Driver as a basis of providing an income living through the COVID pandemic. I thoroughly enjoyed working as an essential worker during those challenging times and being able to help others in need is very fulfilling. Working at Waitrose has also developed my planning skills, time keeping skills and being able to continue to work effectively as part of a team.
Part Time Student
I left my previous position to travel South East Asia with my partner. Having returned early due to the Pandemic, I used the lockdown as an opportunity to undertake some additional qualifications to further advance my ability and effectiveness in Project Management and my Technical knowledge. The training is the official Microsoft 70-480 Programming qualification, and further revision of Prince2 frameworks.
Transition Project Manager
I worked for the EU Exit programme within DEFRA that was created to manage a no deal Brexit. My project, which was VMD (Veterinary Medicine Directorate), aimed to create 5 bespoke digital services, one of which was for the pharmaceutical drug application process that was being managed through Brussels, now part of which has been taken over by the VMD team. This was done through 5 developer scrum teams where I managed part of the scrum master role and the Agile delivery. Majority of the services have now been stood up and are being tested – I was responsible for all transition and technical debt activities to deliver a successful Service Transition into BAU and handover to the business.
Project Manager
I worked with DEFRA as a project manager in their Applications Architecture team. I worked in numerous projects across the organisation, all differing in size and complexity, ranging from small transition projects to multimillion procurement projects. I delivered a smaller scale but specific project that aimed to provide a Software Solution for Developer specific devices that are technically and functionally appropriate. I also co-delivered a much larger second-generation procurement project which was stood up to replace all incumbent suppliers with new suppliers to keep in line with the Governments policy. My project management responsibilities included: progress updates, supplier/account management, documentation writing (business cases, risk, lessons etc.) and attending and reporting at senior board meetings.
Solutions Architect
I worked in the Defra Application Architecture team. During my time there, I was responsible for numerous activities including being a technical representative in project groups and board meetings. For this role I was responsible for reviewing, understanding, and creating architecture estates to then relay them into diagrams (where I trained extensively using Microsoft Visio). I also assisted as a delivery manager in the wider deployment for Cloud provisioning (Azure and AWS, with appropriates integration tools) across all estates – working from discovery phases to procurement.
Civil Service Fast Track Digital & Technology Apprentice
I completed a Level 4 Digital & Technology Apprenticeship within the Civil Service Fast Track Scheme. The scheme was over a 2-year period (although I did complete this early due finishing relevant work ahead of schedule), where I was placed in a governmental department (The Rural Payments Agency/Defra) and underwent numerous placements throughout the business. In every placement I was trained in numerous specialisations. The areas include, but not limited to (additional information for each role can be provided upon request): - Technical Architecture - Business Architecture- Project Management - Change Management- Service & Supplier Management - Service Desk Analyst
