Harrison County Economic Development Corporation is a private, non-profit organization who works with many partners in business, government, education, and other to help local businesses improve and expand, look for opportunities to attract new businesses to the community creating new jobs, encourage entrepreneurship, aid in workforce development, and help make Harrison County a great place to live and work.The Harrison County Economic Development Corporation was formed in 2004 and conducts activities recommended in a strategic plan to carry out the Harrison County Economic Development effort. The EDC Board evaluates the action plan regularly, making adjustments and setting new direction as needed. We are now focusing on the following areas:1) Exploring new development opportunities on the commercial property along Pacer Drive in Corydon.2) Developing and marketing the Lanesville interchange area for additional business development.3) Marketing property in the Harrison County Industrial Park area near Corydon including the “Shovel Ready” site owned by the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce.4) Marketing the community for all types of business growth.5) Working with existing employers to help them remain viable and continue to grow in Harrison County

Developed a variety of food access and educational programs spanning three poverty-stricken coal counties of Southwest Virginia. Created and improved farmers markets for the dual purpose of providing the community with access to fresh, healthy food and improving the local economy. Expanded “Grow Your Own” programs across three counties as a service to low income families with limited access to healthy food. Cultivated relationships with local businesses and government to aid in funding food access programs. Grant funded 1 year program.

Managed all aspects of secure document destruction and industrial recycling company. Built company from ground up through aggressive B2B sales and marketing as well as forming strategic partnerships for the purposes of obtaining superior pricing for commodities and generating infusions of capital. Responsibilities included sales, marketing, human resources and accounting.

Provided financial guidance and investment advice for individuals and small businesses. Utilized financial tools such as stocks, bonds, life insurance, money markets, mortgages, retirement and college savings plans to optimize client experience and retain client base. Created sales opportunities through community involvement and networking, and provided retirement seminars and investment workshops.

Created long term financial plans for high net worth individuals which includes but is not limited to: retirement, wealth transfer, college savings, tax minimization strategies, estate planning, short and long term investment strategies. Achieved Certified Financial Manager designation.
