Strategic Advisor supporting the implementation of the recently adopted Regional Transport Strategy, the associated Programmed Investment Plan (PIP), leading on the partnership Concordat with the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal (ESESCRD), the development of the Regional Bus Strategy, the Regional EV Strategy and Transport Governance issues.

As Strategic Advisor supported SPT to develop its new regional transport strategy, developing its position on its future roles and responsibilities in the planning, funding and operating of the transport system in the West of Scotland, linked to the emerging new RTS. As Strategic Advisor supported SPT to develop stronger and more effective relationships with partners and stakeholders and have more influence on external policy and plan making. Reviewed the process to develop new RTS to date and in particular assess the assurance process in light of updated national policy and proposed STAG review. Engaged with officers to understand desired strategy form/direction of travel following the consultation on the Case for Change. Made recommendations, including directions to consultants engaged to deliver RTS, to support delivery of desired RTS by Autumn 2022, to incorporate emerging policy areas such as transport decarbonisation, MaaS, EV Strategy etc.

As Acting Director of Manchester Climate Change Agency, led the delivery and implementation of the Manchester Climate Change Framework by building effective and impactful partnerships with key stakeholders such as businesses, the public sector, Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector and local residents, to collectively contribute towards the delivery of the climate change targets and objectives for the City. Helped to secure a range of funding sources to sustain and expand the Agency staffing compliment as well as to deliver high profile, carbon reduction projects and programmes which will contribute towards the delivery of the targets outlined within the Manchester Climate Change Framework. Helped to ensure that ambitious action on climate change was at the heart of and complementary to achieving the vision set out in the Our Manchester Strategy.As acting Head of Environment, Planning & Infrastructure helped to develop medium term policy and strategy for environmental and land use planning, clean air, transport and other infrastructure in the city and wider region working with a range of partners incorporating innovative city systems (e.g. CityVerve), strategic transport systems, energy, water and wastewater, digital, blue and green infrastructures, and infrastructure to support the city’s zero carbon ambitions.
