I am an expert on Canadian labour, pensions, and urban policy, working in research at SEIU Healthcare. Focusing on the Ontario long-term care sector, I drive upward wage growth for low-paid healthcare workers via a deep understanding of labour markets and the collective bargaining landscape.I am also a frequent commentator on issues related to labour and political economy in Canada. My book "Invested in Crisis: Public Sector Pensions Against the Future" is forthcoming from Between the Lines Books in February 2025. I hold an MA in History from Concordia University, where I researched pension reform and real estate in Ontario since the 1980s. My SSHRC-supported research is affiliated with the partnership project Deindustrialization and the Politics of Our Time. My writings on pension issues, labour issues, and urban policy have been featured in The Globe and Mail, Jacobin, and Canadian Dimension. While at Concordia, I served as the Grievance Officer at PSAC Local 12500.I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, where I was a National Scholar and recognized through awards as at the top of my year in both History and Human Geography. I was also an undergraduate research fellow at the Northrop Frye Centre at Victoria College, as well as a recipient of the University of Toronto Excellence Award.

Research AssociateSeiu Healthcare May 2022 - PresentRichmond Hill, Ontario, CanadaI am the long-term care researcher at SEIU Healthcare. Working in a context governed by essential services legislation which mandates binding contract arbitration, I provide the labour market analysis required to push working standards higher for one of the lowest wage segments of the healthcare sector. Highlights since I began this position include:- 8% wage increases, alongside a $2 bump for RPNs, in Ontario's main LTC sectoral bargaining process (the highest increases since the late-1980s)- 9-10% wage increases, accompanied by other monetary improvements, over two years in a downtown Toronto retirement home- achieving a switch from private occupational accident insurance to WSIB in a contract arbitration (fully unprecedented in the retirement home sector) -
