Officer CadetEuotc Sep 2012 - May 2015As part of the Army reserves, the mission of EUOTC is to develop the leadership of potential officers for the Armed Forces. Membership of the EUOTC demands integrity, hard work, and the desire to lead and to be led. Those who decide to join the EUOTC must aspire to further enhance their leadership capabilities. For instance, OCdt’s must either command or act inside a section (a group of 8 to 10 men) in extremely challenging circumstances, whether it be coming under enemy fire, dealing with the cold or lack of sleep, however through clear communication, team-work, and individual skills the challenges can be tackled effectively. Personal fitness and sporting opportunities were a large part of EUOTC. I played a lot of Hockey and we won the Army National Hockey Championships 2 years running. Rock climbing, mountaineering, skiing, rifle and clay pigeon shooting and mountain biking are a few of the activities I got involved in.

Year In Industry PlacementCobham Mission Equipment Sep 2010 - Dec 2010My key responsibility was to check parts to ensure they were built to the right quality and involved the continued improvement of the “First Article Inspection” procedure. I was also responsible for the development and implementation of new tracking software. Time management skills were essential in this role to enable me to meet deadlines, as were organisational skills as I may have many different tasks ongoing and need to keep on top of all of them. As the tasks also required communication to people both within and outside the company, excellent communication skills were important.
