As BNSF's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Tom Williams cultivates our relationships with the many customers who trust BNSF to move the freight that businesses and consumers rely on to be successful and thrive. He is also responsible for our sales, marketing and economic development activities.Tom earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Indiana University, a Master of Business Administration from University of Chicago and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.Tom joined BNSF's predecessor Santa Fe Railway Company in 1993. He held various positions in Intermodal, Automotive and Industrial Products and then became assistant vice president, Intermodal/Automotive Operations in the Service Design and Performance group. In 2014, Tom became vice president, Industrial Products Sales. He later served as vice president, Industrial Products, responsible for marketing and sales for chemicals, plastics and petroleum products. Starting in 2017, Tom served as BNSF’s group vice president, Consumer Products, and then in September 2024 he became BNSF's chief marketing officer.
