I graduated with a PhD (nanotechnology) from Flinders University in 2020. During my degree, I gained skills in working with carbon nanomaterials, hydrofluoric acid etching, scanning electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible light spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, photolithography, and forming thin metal layers via sputter coating and thermal evaporation.During this time I also worked in several capacities as a science communicator/tutor. I have taught chemistry, physics and maths to year 10 through to 2nd-year university to large groups of students. I have also tutored maths and writing skills at a one-on-one level. My PhD experience helped me realise that I have a strong interest in both scientific research and in science communication, I also learnt important skills to be proficient in both areas.I currently work for the Australian Space Agency as a Space Communicator at the Australian Space Discovery Centre. In this role, I give presentations to visiting groups on a variety of space-related topics, with a focus on growing the space industry in Australia.
