The contract I work on is responsible for delivering the different railway systems that link up all the separate infrastructure contracts along the new Crossrail route such as stations, shafts, portals and depots. The role therefore involves a great deal of managing and coordinating complex interfaces between different contracts, and providing guidance to contractors to ensure we deliver the highest quality railway, on budget and on time. This involved briefing senior management as to the implications of employing different designs.Working within contract C650 (responsible for delivering power across the Crossrail network), I worked to improve the efficiency of managing the installation of high value equipment through designing and implementing an interactive tracking programme using VBA coding. Additionally, I worked to address engineering issues that arose during construction and played a key role in preparing the energy systems for the upcoming testing phase of the project.Through working within contract C610 (responsible for delivery all the Railway systems such as track, overhead power and tunnel ventilation) I gained the valuable experience of managing the installation of equipment at one of Crossrail's stations. As Chairman, I delivered a speech to a conference of 250 delegates.

Through spending a Year In Industry and 3 additional summer placements with the company, I worked on a number of different projects and gained a wealth of experience. Key achievements included:- The development of a brand new innovative design of hydraulic motor, to overcome the complex and long standing operational issues associated with a motor currently on the market. With the proposal put forward, utilising lean manufacturing techniques and new and innovative technologies, the average time taken to build and test a product was estimated to reduce by half.I also gained a great deal of experience in utilising Solidworks 3D CAD software, comunicating with colleagues throughout the office and shop floor and providing team leadership.
