Polymetrics LLC provides testing and consulting, and forensic services to the plastics industry. Dr. Thomas W. Haas has a number of papers, patents, and publications pertaining to plastics and polymers as well as extensive litigation experience requiring plastics failure analysis as well as in suits for patent infringement.Dr. Haas recently acted as an expert for the defendant, Reynolds Consumer Products, in a suit dealing with their alleged infringement of a patent by their nylon plastic liners used in slow cookers. He prepared comprehensive reports on patent invalidity and non-infringement and subsequently was deposed in New York City by plaintiff’s attorneys. The case went to trial in Judge Rodney Gilstrap’s court in the Federal District of East Texas (Marshal Division). During the three day trial, Tom gave testimony as the technical expert for Reynolds. After about on hour of deliberation, the Texas jury found in favor of Reynolds Consumer Product in that there was no patent infringement.
