As a Principal Engineer and Business Development Lead for the Industrial sector at PDD, I am responsible for leading and managing design projects for our clients while also driving business growth in the industrial sector. My role involves a unique blend of design and business development responsibilities.On the design side, I am responsible for creating and developing innovative design concepts and strategies for our clients. I work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the products we design meet the needs of our clients and their customers. My expertise in engineering design, design principles, and user research methodologies allows me to deliver outstanding results for our clients.On the business development side, I am responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, and driving growth in the industrial sector. I have a deep understanding of the latest industry trends and technologies and I am able to leverage this knowledge to create new business opportunities and drive growth for our clients.

My role at IDC was a cross functional position marrying both the Industrial Design team and the Design Engineering team. My strong background in both fields enabled me to consider all contributing factors and produce the most innovative and commercially successful outcomes. IDC specialises in the development of Class II and III medical devices, rehabilitation equipment and consumer white goods. Being based in the China office enabled me to work closely with large pharmaceutical and consumer companies that wanted to compete in that rapidly expanding market. As part of my role I was also the Senior Reviewer for all ID and Human Centered Design work.

Before I started work in the China office I spent a few months at IDCs UK office. Whilst there I led and worked on a number of projects in the medical, defence and consumer sectors. Across the projects I developed Industrial Design and Mechanical solutions for a number of challenging and innovative projects.

During my time at PDD I grew from an entry level Industrial Designer into a Middleweight Product Design Engineer. I developed my knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly on a number of mechanical and engineering projects. I undertook formal Human Centered Design Training and PDM training for Solidworks. PDD is an innovative and award winning company offering turnkey solutions to multinational clients in the Medical, Consumer and Industrial sectors which allowed me to work on and manage life changing and trend breaking projects.

Directly after finishing my degree at Loughborough University I gained a short placement at PDD which grew into a contractor position. This first year in industry allowed me to work on various projects developing my skills in Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, Human Centered Design and Design for Manufacture giving me in-depth base knowledge of all stages of the design and innovation process.

In this placement year I worked closely with a number of clients on projects ranging from packaging through to web design. It allowed me to work with a project from the clients idea phase through to project completion. I produced successful branding and marketing and learnt lots of client management and communication skills in the process.

At the Phantom Pub, Loughborough I worked my way up to senior bar staff in a team where I was responsible for ensuring the bar was run cleanly and efficiently. I was also in charge of helping to train new staff members by showing them correct procedure and routine.
