I am a pragmatic geotechnical design engineer with expertise in deep foundations, retaining structures, ground anchors and conventional and non-conventional temporary works solutions. I am proficient in the use of various geotechnical software packages including commercial finite element analysis, in both 2D and 3D.Previous notable projects include 27 Commerical Road, London which was awarded a UK Project of the Year with a geotechnical value up to £1M in the 2019 Ground Engineering awards. The project involved a highly constrained site with a two level 10m deep basement, where finite element analysis techniques were used to justify no adverse effects on the adjacent Thames Water assets and a detailed assessment of pile loads was undertaken to provide an innovative piled raft solution. The piled raft design allowed bearing piles to be limited to lengths achievable by conventional continuous flight auger (CFA) rigs, negating the need for large diameter rotary piles under support fluid offering considerable cost and programme saving to the overall scheme.
