Since my early twenties, I have been on numerous expeditions around the world in search of rare orchids and other plants, gathering specimens for the World Garden.In 2001 I travelled to South East Asia with KEO films to make A Dangerous Obsession (Channel 4: 2002).In 2003 I co-authored a book about my nine-month hostage ordeal in the Darien Gap, Panama/Colombia, in 2000 (The Cloud Garden). And in 2006 and 2007, a documentary came out on BBC2 detailing the creation of The World Garden ('Save Lullingstone Castle' and 'Return to Lullingstone Castle').My autobiography, An Englishman's Home, was published in 2007.I am mainly focused on developing The World Garden but also give lectures around the country, as well as overseas, on horticulture and plant hunting.
