I am an environmental scientist with 13 years work experience in both site based/field and consultancy roles. This experience has seen me working in the Queensland coal mining, coal seam gas (CSG), ports corporation and research industries. During this time I have held various environmental/sustainable development and business development roles. Whilst with Verterra, my role was that of business development and project management where I successfully developed and contracted in excess of $5m to the company. Prior to Verterra, my work with Anglo American required me to project manage and provide environmental/technical support to each of their Australian coal operations. I was also involved in Anglo American's $1.1b expansion and development of Dawson Mine. Some of environmental programs I developed and managed resulted in significant cost savings, including a landform rehabilitation technique with the potential to save $100M at Dawson Mine. This work also involved managing and training work forces of up to 60 personnel. These roles regularly required extensive liaising across all levels of management, as well as technical professions, operators, contractors, landholders, community representatives and regulatory authorities. I have worked in all environmental aspects, although my career has seen specialisation in landform rehabilitation, closure planning, water management, erosion & sediment control, and the storage & handling of flammable/combustible liquids. This career experience has required me to become highly competent in legal approvals, community liaison, team building/management, project management, contract development/facilitation and the development/maintenance of management systems.I have a comprehensive understanding of Environmental Legislation and been responsible for implementing and maintaining ISO14001 accredited Environmental Management Systems at both Dawson and Moranbah North Mines.
