A time served Plater/Welder with over 21 years experience within heavy and light Engineering/Tunneling/Construction/and Wind Turbine Industry’s.Excellent Experience working on a TBM carrying out fabrication, welding, piping and mechanical fitting works/modifications when needed, working in with the Mechanical fitters, electricians and the TBM crew. I worked at STRABAG UK Tunnelling Division driving overhead 35 tonne Kunz cab cranes and Slinging/Lifting/Rigging the concrete segments and other parts onto the locos that are needed for the new tunnel for the Anglo America Mine. My other job responsibilities included driving the Loco’s and the forklift when needed and any Fabrication or Welding work that is in need of doing if I’m available. My past roles include working at EEW/Offshore Structures Britain (OSB) doing all the different stages of fabrication for the Offshore Wind Farm Renewable Energy sector building the Transition pieces within the steel fabrication shop, including using the overhead cranes to move the wind turbine sections and other parts of machinery/equipment around the workshop in tight areas. I am a fully competent CNC Miller operator and have use the Graebner fixed and mobile milling machines to cut back to the inside sub arc welding for a full penetration welded butt joint. I worked on all of the Burbo Bank/Wanley/Borselle/Hornsea 1+2 offshore wind farm Projects.I have an Excellent time keeping record and work well both on my own and as part of a team. Due to past experience of working in a Shift Engineering team at the SSI Steelworks and working with the Mechanical Fitters I have gained skills in not only my own trade but also mechanical jobs which I find interesting and challenging.

CurrentNow the second machine is built and mining I’m covering the TBM’s on the project as well as in the workshop and rest of the site when needed. Building up the TBM and doing all aspects of fabrication/welding/modifications/fitting works ready in preparation to mine the second Tunnel drive here at HS2 Bromford Tunneling Project. Welding up the TBM shields/Tail-skin, removing all lifting eyes from all the TBM components were necessary ready for mining, fitting the seal can, shove frame, launch rails, anti rolls and much more ready for the launch of the Herrenknecht TBM. Modifying all bits of pipework that are needed to connect the lines up correctly 2”- 20”+ including slurry, grout, bentonite, comp B and much more. Working alongside/in with all the Mechanical Fitters, Electricians, Miners, HK Welders/Fitters and the Lifting teams all working together to deliver the project safely and efficiently.
Tbm/Workshop - Fabricator/Welder Hs2 Long Itchington Tunneling Project.
Doing all aspects of Fabrication and Welding on the Herrenknecht TBM, in the workshop and on all the other parts of site such as the STP/WTP, MSV’s when required, working within the Mechanical team. Working 7-3 night 7-4 day shifts covering the TBM whilst it mined and built the 2 Tunnels at LIW HS2. Working on the strip out and reassembly of the TBM and the gantry’s for the second tunnel drive. Fitting the shove frame and seal can onto the drive 2 side ready for mining. Welding the plates onto the TBM Gantry’s for pulling them out of the tunnel ready to strip outside and reassemble also welding pad eyes onto the cutter head for transporting it around to the north portal. Doing lots of fabrication and welding work on the tail-skin and middle shield ready for the lifting out from the shaft and transportation back to the north portal ready for reassembly. Fabricating different Tunnel consumables and anything that’s requested throughout the whole of the Long Itchington HS2 site. Removing the shove frame and seal cans from both tunnel drives 1+2 after completion.
Overhead Gantry Cab Crane Driver/Cpcs A40 Slinger/Fabricator/Welder-Pottash Tunneling Project
Driving the overhead cab cranes outside in the segment yard loading all the concrete segments onto the locos for the new Mine/Tunnel that’s getting made by Strabag for Anglo America at the Wilton International site. I will go into the workshop and fabricate/weld anything that’s required around site for tunnel consumables.My duties also include the slinging/rigging/lifting/ of all the other pieces of equipment that’s needed in the tunnel as they advance further each day/shift this includes loco rails, pipe work, fire hydrants, valves, pipe clamps, bolts and different liquids/greases needed in the process for tunnelling.Driving the Locomotives and Forklift when needed as well.
Plater/Welder/Miller Operator
Working shifts as a Plater/Miller Operator at EEW/OSB I was Fabricating the Wind Turbine Transition Pieces up for the offshore renewable energy/wind farm sector within the heavy engineering fabrication shop. Setting up and marking out the flat plates using the specific engineering drawings for each one on the tacking/welding beds for the cones ready to be SMAW and then rolled into the correct spec for the joining process. Joining the rolled cans/cones using hydraulic rollers, overhead cranes and jacks to set them up to tight tolerances ready for the welders to pre heat then tack and SMAW weld. Milling the outside joints with both mobile and fixed Greabener Milling machine's back to the inside weld ready for full penetration welding from the outside SMAW. Using the MEWP within the workplace. Operating/Using the overhead crane's and fork lift for lifting/moving things around the fabrication shop. Doing many other aspects of fabrication from positioning and tacking channels/flats around the outside of the rolled cans/cones and putting platforms inside of the transition pieces. Fitting and removing the welding run off plates from the rolled cans/cones using the oxy burning gear ready for joining together on the rollers.Back shift/night shift Team leader/Charge-hand on the Outfitting side of the job. Outfitting the TP’s with structural steel inside once they have been blasted and painted.
High Level Engineering Plater/Welder/Mech Craftsman (Shifts)
High Level Engineering D Shift Plater/Welder/Structural-Mechanical craftsman. We all worked as part of a team Mechanically working 12 hour shifts we repair/maintain the equipment from welding patches to fabricating structural work after being damaged I also use the arc air gouging and oxy burning gear on a regular basis.We mechanically repair or change things that are U/S working as/with a mechanical fitter on all sorts of jobs including gear box changes, fluid drive changes, hydraulic cylinder changes and many more challenging jobs.Read drawings and take measurement for new equipment and fabricate any parts which need modifying or repairing, such as site hand rails, ladders, supports, conveyor systems, steel structures, Iron runners, PCI pipe work, ducting, coke oven machines and both heavy/ light plate work.Excellent experience working on a tier 1 COMMAH site.During shutdowns on The Redcar Blast Furnace I am brought in on days as Supervisor for the contractors doing all the welding and plating/fabrication work on the cast house, Twure platform and bustle main.
