'Befriender'Hope Coventry Jan 2022 - Jan 2023Coventry, England, United Kingdom🤝 For a few hours every week, I would volunteer for Good Neighbours Coventry - a charity that connects 'befrienders' with people over 50 to help reduce loneliness.💬 I visited someone called Martin who had been living alone since his wife passed away. We would chat about what we've been up to in the past week, food, past holidays, local news and more.⛳ One of Martin’s favourite things to was play Wii golf together! We would share one remote and we take it in turns to stand up and do a proper swing.🏠 In December 2022, Martin moved into his son's home. The perfect ending to this venture. -

Co Creator, ManagerBroadstreet Buses Apr 2016 - May 2016Coventry, United KingdomBroadstreet Buses was created by my business partner and I after we realised that we could fill the gap in the market with more success than the competition. There were several reasons for this, and having worked for seven months for the only other competition in the market, we decided to take a leap and develop a rival business. What we did differently:1) Invested in Social Media to capture the attention of the target market and drive salesMy University course, Advertising and Marketing, had developed my understanding of the importance social media has for businesses trying to reach out and connect with their target market. Knowing this, I created a Facebook page and created several successful, online, targeted advertisements which enhanced consumer interaction and brought in online sales. 2) Developed a brand that was customer focussesBroadstreet Buses gave me first-hand experience of building a brand. This involved the process of creating a USP which not only differentiated us from our direct competition, but every other secondary competitor. Broadstreet Buses was the only events based business in the area that was designed for, and ran students. This unique connection with the target market was communicated across all channels, by our slogan: 'run for students, by students,' by our communication style on social media, and also through our sales pitch for when we promoted our business face to face with the customers.

English TeacherLovetefl Jan 2014 - Mar 2014Kanchanaburi, ThailandMy gap year started in Kanchanaburi, a rural provenance west of Bangkok where I was an English teacher, going by the name of Teacher Tom. I truly believe that travel enhances the mind, and my experience at Wattakranam school was exactly that, an incredible, eye-opening cultural learning curve. Whether it was waking up to the sounds of religious on-goings at the temple I lived next to, or struggling to find Shampoo that didn't include skin whitening, or refusing to hit the children when they got their spelling wrong, my experience as an English Teacher in Thailand improved many of my key skills including including communication, forward planning and working independently. As a school teacher, part of my job was to design and deliver structured lessons. This involved lesson planning, which thoroughly enhanced my creativity, innovativeness, and time management skills and as a result I was able to offer a range of entertaining exercises which positively impacted the English capability of pupils, which I could see from their test results. As well as this, speaking to Thai collogues and pupils developed my communication skills, and I now feel comfortable speaking to varied groups of people. -
