Tom is one of the chief architects of the firm’s vision for providing clients with next-level access to investment and credit solutions usually reserved for large institutional investors. Prior to founding New Republic Partners, Tom was Head of Business Development and a member of the Executive Committee at Legg Mason, reporting to the CEO. He was responsible for leading the firm’s global product organization (product strategy, product development, and product management) as well as the firm’s mergers, acquisitions and strategic investing activities.He currently is an advisory board member for FLX Distribution, an innovative technology-enabled marketplace that matches distribution professionals with asset managers, enabling tailored access to scalable distribution resources with the flexibility to fit the changing industry environment.Tom also worked for more than 12 years at Wells Fargo & Co. In his last role, he was Executive Vice President and Head of Affiliated Managers and was responsible for a $100 billion Wells Fargo Asset Management business. Prior to Wells Fargo Asset Management, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Evergreen Investments and Wachovia Global Asset Management, based in London and Charlotte. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science and economics from Duke University, a doctorate in law from the University of North Carolina School of Law and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. Tom also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. He lives with his family in Charlotte.
