Tom Howes received an R.O.T.C. commission from Norwich University . During his military career he served in multiple command, staff, instructor, advisor, and military observer positions in locations around the world to include Germany, Vietnam, Egypt, Syria and the United States. After 10 years of active duty Tom entered the Army Reserves and retired with the rank of Major. He then transitioned into the civilian workforce where he spent the next twenty two years as a manufacturing engineer with the defense systems group of Texas Instruments. He spent his initial years working on the HARM missile system both in production and with critical system suppliers In addition he was instrumental in developing recruiting practices for the systems group and for counseling, recruiting, and hiring both junior and senior military officers for operational and administrative positions for various divisions of Texas Instruments. Since his retirement in 1999 from Texas Instruments he has worked as a consultant to the Raytheon Corporation to recruit military officers primarily for the Network Centric Systems group. He currently is a volunteer with MOJO and assists members of the service seeking opportunities in the civilian sector.
