Experienced neuroscientist with extensive knowledge in translational research and an established background in gene-therapy mediated neuromodulation in regenerative neurobiology. Demonstrated ability to leverage molecular systems neuroscience approaches to uncover neuronal populations, circuits and mechanisms that are important for the recovery of sensorimotor function in disease states. Integrating single-cell multi-omics with gene-therapy mediated optogenetic and chemogenetic neuromodulation to manipulate the activity of specific neuronal populations. Combining this with in vivo calcium imaging, electrophysiology and viral tracing techniques enables the monitoring and visualisation of targeted neurons and their circuits. These approaches provide the high spatial specificity and temporal resolution required for the identification of neuronal populations and molecular mechanisms that underlie neurological disorders and facilitate the development of novel treatment strategies.I am a co-author on 28 publications (11 as first author), with an h-index of 18 including publications in Nature, Science Translational Medicine, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Biotechnology and Nature Communications. I have contributed to obtaining multiple grants, presented at international conferences and lectured on neuroscience courses. I have established strong international collaborations to facilitate the exchange of techniques, ideas, resources and expertise and developed team leadership and managerial skills to ensure research goals and priorities are achieved.
