He will be working alongside Innovate UK, Digital Catapult, The Hartree Centre and British Standards Institution to advise organisations looking to adopt AI solutions or develop their own capability and capacity in AI. Typically, the organisations selected for ISA support are those whose specific challenges cannot be easily addressed by other parts of the BridgeAI programme, or other accessible training offers.Speaking on his appointment, Professor Jackson said: “This appointment is a significant milestone for the digital decarbonisation movement, representing a pivotal step forward in our commitment to fostering sustainable AI solutions that demonstrate a profound understanding of their environmental impact on our planet. Concurrently, it strives to enhance the adoption of AI among SMEs in the UK, positioning the UK at the forefront of AI development and research, ensuring its continued leadership in the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence.”

I’ve recently been appointed chair of the Technical Working Group for Ethics in the National Digital Twin Programme (NDTP). The NDTP is the government-led programme committed to growing national capability in digital twinning technologies and processes throughout the country. The working group has the remit of developing a strategy for ethics and sustainability for digital twins.

A member of the Green IT community, comprised of like-minded IT professionals and enthusiasts fervently committed to advancing the cause of environmentally sustainable information technology.

The OECD.AI Network of Experts works with the working party as an informal group of AI experts from government, business, academia and civil society. The network provides AI-specific policy advice for the OECD’s work on AI policy and contributes to the OECD Policy Observatory on AI, OECD.AI.The network provides the OECD with an “on the ground” perspective on AI and is a forum where the OECD can share information with other international initiatives and organisations. The network raises issues about trustworthy AI and other policy initiatives with the OECD, particularly when international cooperation is useful.The network provides a space for the international community to have in-depth discussions about shared AI policy opportunities and challenges.Part of the OECD’s mission to raise awareness around implementing the OECD AI Principles is to ensure that open dialogue shapes trustworthy AI. To create a wider public dialogue, the OECD has the AI Wonk blog, where AI experts can present current issues.

We created a system back in 2012 called EMOTIVE that can predict the next London riot to the outcome of an election. We correctly predicted the outcome of the UK General Elections and the US Election 2017.

I was the inaugural director of the Centre and my role was to put CIM on the world stage. With the emergence of big data, social media, cloud and mobile-based services presents massive challenges and opportunities for government, organisations and society. The effective management of these information and knowledge assets enables people to succeed. Take a look at the chart in this section which shows an example of our achievements. The main objective I set for the Centre was for it to undertake internationally recognised research for the benefit of the individual, organisations, government and society.In particular, CIM aims to:• Evidence the significance and value of information• Challenge thinking and practice around information management• Improve performance through analysis, interpretation and judgment of informationTo achieve these goals, CIM draws upon an outstanding network of researchers who have been successful in running major research projects funded by a variety of national and international agencies, including the AHRB, EPSRC ESRC, JISC, the European Union and the NHS. CIM is also working with many industrial partners including IBM, Jaguar Land Rover, Leicester County Council, Leicestershire Police, Microsoft, Rolls Royce and SAP.
