I specialise in nonfiction, seeking fresh, expert perspectives on history, science, nature, politics, big ideas, economics, health, and arts and culture. I am particularly interested in writers who can open readers’ minds, improve their lives and help them see the world differently, whether that be through untold histories, ground-breaking science, or revelatory journalism. I’m always keen to find ‘category killing’ books that will remain the definitive work on a subject for a popular readership for a decade or more. I would love to hear from academics or public figures with a unique expertise, who are keen to find a mainstream audience for their ideas and writing. I welcome approaches from writers who are in the earliest stages of thinking about writing a nonfiction book.

I published onto the Viking, Penguin Life and Penguin Business lists at Penguin Random House. Highlights included Fall by John Preston, a Sunday Times bestseller which won the Costa Biography Prize and was shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize, The Moth and the Mountain by Ed Caesar, which won the Telegraph Sports Book Award and was shortlisted for the William Hill Prize, and A Drag Queen’s Guide to Life by Bimini Bon Boulash and Life Time by Russell Foster, both Sunday Times bestsellers. I also commissioned books by authors such as Dame Jane Goodall, Isabel Hardman, Adam Higginbotham, Tim Birkhead, Sarah Langford and Matt Gibberd, co-founder of The Modern House.

I commissioned nonfiction at William Collins, an imprint of HarperCollins.Highlights included Bella Mackie’s Jog On, a #2 Sunday Times Hardback Nonfiction bestseller, Dunkirk by Joshua Levine, a five-time #1 Sunday Times Paperback Nonfiction bestseller, Sunday Times bestsellers The Science of Storytelling by Will Storr and Who Owns England? by Guy Shrubsole and the PEN Ackerley Prize shortlisted Ghostland by Edward Parnell.I was a key part of the team that created TLS Books, a new imprint commissioning books through the Times Literary Supplement that launched in November 2019. As well as helping to commission books by writers such as Lee Child, I oversaw the imprint's brand strategy and series design.

In this role I primarily assisted the Executive Publisher, while also working as an assistant editor at 4th Estate, rebranding and running the 4th Estate website, publishing through various titles on the Friday Project list and later commissioning nonfiction onto the 4th Estate list.I was a key part of the team that created and launched the 4th Estate and Guardian BAME Short Story Prize. I oversaw branding and design and created video content to market and publicise the prize in its first and second years. I read and judged submissions for 3 years after the prize’s inception.I created and directed the 4th Estate video series RE4DINGS, which has featured readings by writers such as Jonathan Franzen, Nigel Slater, David Nicholls, Alan Hollinghurst, Elizabeth Day and Nell Zink.

I was selected as one of 3 trainees from over 1000 applicants for this highly competitive graduate scheme, over the course of which I completed placements in editorial at 4th Estate and HarperVoyager, in marketing in Collins Learning and in product strategy at HarperCollins Digital, gaining an all-round understanding of the business from the ground up in the process.

As a freelance music journalist I contributed to magazines and websites such as Vice, The Quietus and NME. This included writing features and reviews for both print and online, proofreading, copyediting, transcribing interviews, curating online content and liaising with a broad network of publicists, managers and other music industry professionals.
