This allows for high resolution imagery with accurate and precise major and trace element chemical characterisation.My role primarily involves the research and development of SEM microbeam quantitative chemical analyses, in particular the application of automated mineralogical classifications to geological materials. Operational responsibility for the PANalytical Axios Advanced PW4400 X-Ray spectrometer located in the School of Geography, Geology and the Environment.I specialise in the qualitative and quantitative inorganic XRF chemical analysis of rocks, minerals, soils, ceramics, concretes, cements, fired clay products and other related materials (e.g, slags and ashes) for research, teaching and commercial enterprises.

I was hired as a European Petrophysics Consortium technician as part of IODP Expedition 313 – New Jersey Shallow Shelf. I was part of an international team of scientists working to strict deadlines as part of the pre-onshore and onshore science parties. My duties involved high quality data collection including; Natural Gamma (NGR) measurementsMoisture and density of sediment samplesColour reflectanceLine scanning of cores prior to scientific sampling.

I successfully gained an internship with the gold exploration and mining company Apex Minerals in Perth, Australia. I earned valuable experience in the mining industry, and carried out duties that included;Core descriptionsGrade control loggingExploration mapping.I also worked closely with senior geologists on locating a new possible prospect and helped present results to company executives.
