I began my CMT career with CSR Readymix in a quarry & asphalt testing site laboratory, progressed through to technical supervisory roles and then to Quarry Technical Manager for Vic metro. My deeper involvement with the technical aspects of concrete began in 1999, particularly with investigations, reporting and complaint resolution. I was also heavily involved in producing, testing, trialling, and implementing the introduction of manufactured sand throughout Readymix metro concrete plants.After more than 18 years of experience with construction materials with CSR Readymix, Readymix CM, Rinker, Holcim, etc..., I took on the challenging role of Technical Manager for the Barro Group, controlling over 22 concrete plants, in Vic, NSW and Qld, and their related quarries. This independent Australian and family owned quarrying and concrete supply company has successfully supplied many major, and technically difficult, infrastructure projects such as the Victorian Desalination plant, Northern Sewer project, Williamstown Dolphin Mooring and Melbourne Docklands, to name just a few, where specialised concrete mixes were required. The Barro Group has also supplied many other large volume projects; The Geelong By-Pass, Chadstone Shopping Centre, Royal Children's Hospital, ANZ, NAB, and many other multi storey and high rise commercial developments, where we pride our technical, testing and production abilities to match and surpass the capabilities of our larger corporate competitors.I now have over 28 years of valuable experience that I'm keen to add to, and also share.I've also chaired and still am an active member of several state and national concrete, aggregate, and testing technical committees, including the CCAA, NATA and Standards Australia.
