in 2008, I started off as a kitchen designer at IKEA where I learned about the product and the ins and outs of the kitchen design world. 2 years later I went out and got my hands dirty by getting into the construction field. Started off as a labour in which my tasks were to keep the site neat, paint and caulk walls and other miscellaneous items throughout the jobsite. While on the jobsite I was offered a position where I became a granite and stone installer for a company called Atlas stone product, there I learnt how to install solid surface countertops and added the skill of free hand cutting with grinders and such. From there I left to build my first house in Edmonton and became a basement framer for big builders such as Jayman and Alldritt homes. in 2012 I was asked to help extend the new branch of modus as their lead installer of Modus who has the contract to install IKEA kitchens. I was a lead for about 1.5 years and about 200 kitchens installed under my belt, I was promoted to lead designer and project manager. From there I was designed and measured homes to ensure the future IKEA plans would fit and also carry out the coordination of the trades to get the job done from start to finish. 2 years ago my boss at the time parted ways with Modus and I was asked to take over his position. I now still carry the role of lead design and project but also the task of managing the company and deal with the day to day task of making sure the company move smoothly.
