Analyzed daily incident reports, coordinated/conducted Root Cause Analyses/proactive risk assessments, received national patient safety alerts and ensured completion of required actions, prepared quarterly and annual reports, provided key data for leadership committees, conducted unit inspections, and input data into national web-based tracking systems. Provided training, interpreted standards, inspected patient care areas and advised executive leaders. Functioned as facility Risk Manager in his/her absence.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Ohio

Directed Nursing Services at the Air Force’s 2nd largest medical center, staffed with over 500 nurses and medical technicians. Selected nurses for world-wide deployments. Launched the Air Force’s first novice nurse training program at a civilian university hospital and a 1.5 million dollar human patient simulation center, leading to enhanced training for the medical center and community. Won the Military Health System 2011 Healthcare Innovations Program Readiness Award. Deployed CNO at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan during highest casualty rates of the war seen through 2009. Served additional duty as Air Force Materiel Command Senior Nursing Officer for eighteen months, Mentored CNOs and medical technicians at nine facilities; served as career field advisor for promotion board processes; member of the AF Nurse Corps Board of Directors and senior decision-making groups

Provided oversight of nursing practice for 300 personnel at an 87-bed Joint Venture, Air Force/Veterans Affairs health care facility. Key member of executive leader group that laid groundwork for construction of a multimillion dollar VA medical facility with a physical walkway linkage to the Air Force Hospital.

Lackland Air Force Base Texas

Directed medical readiness activities at the AF’s largest medical facility. Trained/prepared personnel for world-wide deployments, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Participated in base and city emergency operations centers and disaster exercises. Provided input into Base Realignment and Closure plans.

Bolling Air Force Base Washington Dc

Facilitated USAF Nurse Corps Chief interactions with Congress, DoD, uniformed services corps directors, Headquarters USAF, Major Commands, and other agencies. Assisted director to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate policies/programs for 19,000 active-duty, Guard and Reserve nursing personnel.

Provided executive leadership for 146 medical staff in various specialties, including nursing services, family practice, aerospace medicine, dental and mental health. Key leader & member of base battle staff on Sept 11, 2001 and start-up of Iraq conflict in 2003.
