Prior to joining UnitedLex, I was a member of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP’s Litigation Group for 30 plus years, representing U.S. and non-U.S. clients on a variety of litigation and regulatory matters, particularly in the areas of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Antitrust/Hart-Scott-Rodino Act (HSR), Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Sanctions, conflicts of interest, employee misconduct and corporate monitorships. I represented clients with respect to: • Criminal Defense and Investigations: I manage internal investigations and regulatory inquiries, including directing discovery and conducting witness interviews; presenting on behalf of clients to, and negotiating settlements with, U.S. and international government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). • FCPA and Antitrust Compliance: I assist clients with the creation, implementation and revision of anti-corruption and antitrust compliance programs, including in connection with corporate monitorships, and have provided in-person compliance training in the U.S., Canada and Europe. • Corporate Monitorships: I assist clients with their corporate monitorship, particularly in connection with AML/Sanctions and FCPA matters. • Litigation: I litigate complex commercial cases.From 2015 to 2017, I was seconded with HSBC in London, New York and Washington D.C., where I served as Senior Legal Counsel on global reviews of HSBC’s AML and OFAC sanctions compliance programs in connection with a six-year monitorship imposed by a deferred prosecution agreement.  That role included: • Managing day-to-day legal operations of more than a dozen in-country compliance reviews in bank offices in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. • Advising senior executives and country management teams on preparation, strategy, and findings from monitorship reviews.  Preparing for and attending interviews with hundreds of bank personnel across various business units and risk functions.  • Coordinating and negotiating with external monitor team on investigatory scope and data requests.  Assembling and directing teams of up to 25 attorneys in foreign countries on document review and production.
